Then and Now
CPS has operated continuously since 1887, making us one of the oldest camera clubs in North America. For over 120 years, CPS has grown and adapted, embracing new techniques and technologies - and remains vibrant and active. CPS does not specialize in any one photographic discipline, instead educating and encouraging its members to explore all subjects and types of photography. While the majority of members have converted to digital formats, film enthusiasts remain an active minority.
We currently have over 300 members and are one of only a very few clubs to have our own permanent clubroom. These facilities allow CPS to conduct a Photo School three times each year featuring sessions on Fundamentals of Good Photography and Photoshop Digital Photo Editing and a variety of informational and educational programs. CPS meets almost ever Friday night throughout the year.
Member Services
We invite you to visit us and see for yourself all we have to offer. Most events are open to guests and visitors at no charge, unless specifically listed as members only or a part of our School of Photography programs. We are located in the Broadview Municipal Center complex in Broadview Heights: 9543 Broadview Rd. Friday evening Meetings begin at 8:00 p.m. while most weeknight events begin at 7:30, unless otherwise announced. Our clubroom is ADA friendly and people of all abilities are welcome
CPS also sponsors many other events for members (including photo school students) such as special showings, workshops, social activities and field trips to provide ideas, opportunities and inspiration. Our newsletter is "The Darkroom Door". It contains club news items, member photos, reviews of recent field trips and events, "how to" articles by experienced club photographers, as well as occasional stories about our members. Meetings
Cleveland Photographic Society members meet each week for competitions, critiques, programs, and workshops. These are excellent opportunities for photographers to display their work and receive valuable feedback. Past programs and workshops have included topics such as: large format photography, digital photography, stereo photography, and competition judging. There is ample time before and after meetings to meet with fellow members, guests, and the evening's presenters. Regardless of your photographic interest, CPS has something for you. Please join us - we look forward to meeting you!
All competition meetings are held on Friday evenings beginning at 8:00 PM. Competition entries are accepted no later than 7:45 PM. Exceptions include some special events and the summer schedule (June-August), when meetings are held every other Friday. Board meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month and are for CPS members only. All meetings are held at 7:30 PM. in the clubroom at 9543 Broadview Road in Broadview Heights, Ohio.
