Chasing Birds that Bite But Don’t Fly

My main objective on a trip to Patagonia, Antarctica and the Falklands was penguins. I just love penguins- the waddling walk, the braying like a donkey. I did not know what to expect, or how my own expectations of what a photo of a penguin would look like. I will discuss the details of how difficult conditions were, the settings used, the gear I carried.
And of course being bit by a Magenellic penguin!
A member of Cleveland Photographic Society since 2018, where I serve as treasurer, and administrate the mentoring program and also am a mentor, write for bi-annual magazine, The Darkroom Door. The recipient of the 2024 President’s Award. I moved to Ohio in 2022, from New Jersey, where I found the wetlands near Lake Erie my own little version of heaven. My husband and I enjoy travel in both the US and internationally.
I currently shoot with a Nikon Z8 and Z7ii. The lenses I carried on that trip were the Z14-30, f4, Z24-200, and Z180-600.
