PLEASE NOTE:  in case of inclement weather, we will post a notice with updated information on the CPS homepage no later than 8 am. Check back there if you have any questions.
Home to a number of waterfowl, warblers and migratory birds, Sandy Ridge has quickly become a go-to location for bird and wildlife watchers in its brief history. We hope you’ll join us there on Sunday, April 16th at 9 am!
This morning, we hope to see a variety of birds, including a pair of nesting eagles visible from the walkways, while the upper reaches of the trees are still visible.
WHO: This trip is open to EVERYONE, no cost or the need for any advance notice – simply join us if you can!
WHAT: A chance to visit an active wildlife and premier birding site.
WHEN: Sunday, April 16 from 9 am to 11 am
WHERE: Sandy Ridge is a part of the Lorain County Metroparks and is located in North Ridgeville (about 45 minutes from the CPS clubroom).  Their address is:  6195 Otten Road, North Ridgeville, 44039
We’ll meet at the picnic pavilion by the main parking lot.
Be aware the round trip from the parking lot and around the lakes is about 3 miles, a flat, even, well groomed path.  Restrooms are available by the parking lot ONLY. There are several benches along the path.
WHAT TO BRING:  Sturdy, waterproof shoes (in case of soggy trails), insect repellant, binoculars, a tripod if you have one, your longest lenses for best shooting (but come along even if you don’t have one), and most importantly – an interest in nature and flying things!  In addition, if you enjoy macro, they will be plenty of subjects.
Please note:  in the event of a heavy, continuous downpour, this trip will be canceled and re-scheduled. Keep an eye on the homepage of the CPS website for any updates – any notice of cancellation will be posted no later than 8 am that day.
There is a diner nearby for brunch afterwards:
Picket’s Place on the Ridge, 37863 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, 44039
Thank you to: Beverly Kenworthy for coordinating.
IMPORTANT NOTE: As with all field trips, CPS cannot be held responsible for any accidents or injuries – participate at your own risk.
